If myalgia gets better, it usually follows a course of therapy that gradually eases the effects of the illness on the body. A very common treatment for chronic fatigue syndrome/myalgic encephalopathy is an antiviral medication, which in many cases can relieve symptoms. Antiviral medications are designed to attack specific viruses that cause the illnesses. For example, if the virus causing cholera is attacking the liver, an antiviral medication that attacks the virus triggering the hepatitis will effectively treat both problems.

Scientists are still researching ways to better treat various symptoms of myalgia, but so far there is no known cure for it. Some people take comfort in this because, despite its lack of a cure, they can at least take comfort in knowing that myalgia is not a long-term disease. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (MFS) Diagnosis

Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is an extremely serious, long-term condition that affects numerous body systems. Individuals with ME/Cfs are often unable to perform most physical activities. Activities of daily living, including work, school and social activities, are often severely limited or altered due to the inability to cope with symptoms. In some cases, ME/Cfs may even require special equipment, such as wheelchairs, for mobility. This article details ME/Cfs and discusses some of the causes, symptoms and treatments of this debilitating condition.


ME/Cfs is believed to be triggered by the release of excessive amounts of cytokines by the immune system. These” cytokines” are part of what is known as the “ergy response”. An excess of these inflammatory chemicals may be the cause of one of two different types of chronic conditions – infectious mononucleosis and Candida (yeast infections). Research has shown that the buildup of these chemicals within the body can result in a number of physical symptoms, such as extreme fatigue, muscle pain, joint pain, fatigue and depression.

ME/Cfs often begins during post-exertional malaise, or after strenuous activity or exercise. Common symptoms include extreme exhaustion, muscle and joint pain, fever, and chills. ME/Cfs typically begins when the body’s white blood cells (panleukopenia) are unable to fight off a virus or bacteria that invade the body. Since these cells normally attack viruses and bacteria before they cause serious problems, the onset of ME/Cfs suggests an abnormal response that can then trigger other symptoms. For example, if the ME/Cfs’ symptoms last for several days or weeks, they may be related to another condition that requires medical attention.

Since ME/Cfs usually begin during or just after peak activity levels, researchers believe that it is important to get better acquainted with patients before they determine whether or not they have this illness. Common signs and symptoms may include frequent urination, the inability to focus or concentrate, headaches, muscle and joint pain, sleepiness, depression, dizziness, memory loss, feelings of guilt and emotional upheaval, irritability, difficulty concentrating, nausea and vomiting. If you are experiencing at least four of these symptoms, you should seriously consider getting a full physical examination. If you do not get a conclusive diagnosis from a physician in a timely manner, you may still be misdiagnosed with another illness, resulting in a significant waste of time and money. Likewise, if you are able to properly diagnose ME/Cfs, you can then use various treatment options to help improve the quality of your life.

In addition to the above-mentioned symptoms, ME/Cfs patients may also have orthostatic intolerance, post-exertional malaise, due to the ongoing suppression of the immune system triggers that occur just prior to bedtime, low energy levels that cause fatigue, and sleep problems caused by disrupted sleep cycles. This list of symptoms can also be used to help determine when ME/Cfs is actually present and in what form it manifests itself. For example, post-exertional malaise occurs immediately after exertion, which means it could indicate a relapse of ME/Cfs, while chronic fatigue syndrome can manifest itself as long periods of poor sleep lasting several days or weeks, indicating a more severe case of ME/Cfs.

So many people have asked me this question, so I thought I would write an article to try and address it. In my experience there are three main reasons why people want to label themselves. The first one is they are going through a change, perhaps in their mind or in their environment or both. The second reason is when you start asking yourself questions like, “who is this person” or “what does this person look like” or even “where is this person” this triggers you to look for that label.

The third reason I hear from interviewees is they want to identify themselves as being more than “just a pretty face”. Perhaps they are feeling passionate about an area they are passionate about and would like to convey this passion to employers. Perhaps they are really passionate about building an online business. Maybe they are passionate about starting a family. The point I am trying to make is if you don’t want to be judged, why are you doing the job anyway?

The most common interview question employers might ask questions like these: “Why are you passionate about [fill in the blank]?” or “What do you think your strengths are?” The problem with these questions is that often what the interviewer is looking for is a list of your strengths, and not the kind of passion you are showing towards your work. Indeed many people forget that in order to have real passion you need to do work in your spare time.

My challenge is for you as a PhD candidate who has done the hard work, to take the initiative to do more than complete a doctorate program. Take this initiative now and get involved in a local NGO, human rights organization, volunteer organization, even a political party or a business. Wherever you choose to spend your time, make sure you take the initiative to raise awareness about your Ph.D. and your work. The more you participate, the more you will learn and the more likely you will become credible.

What do you do with your degree? The truth is that most Ph.D. candidates do not find employment within academia. Yet even then there are many ways to apply your knowledge to the workplace. You can start working in an administration or HR department and focus on improving the efficiency of that department. You can also consider working as a manager at a startup, consulting firm, or investment firm.

In all honesty I never knew that there were so many opportunities available for PhDs. If you are feeling discouraged that you can’t get a job in academia then this is why. The world looks upon those with PhDs with reverence, respect, and not derision. What you are doing with your PhDs should be to use that recognition to not only further your professional development, but to go out and fulfill your dreams, and goals.

At times, ME/CF can restrict them to bed all day. The causes for this debilitating disease are still unknown, but many health professionals believe it is caused by a shortage of the nerves that deliver messages from the brain to the rest of the body.

If you are experiencing these symptoms, you should see your doctor. He or she will perform tests to determine if there are any underlying physical problems causing the symptoms. Often times, ME/CF is misdiagnosed because people confuse the symptoms for other illnesses. However, if someone has gotten better, they might still have chronic fatigue syndrome, which means they need to get treated.

Some of the more common ME symptoms include depression, anxiety, irritability, difficulty concentrating and insomnia. Other less common issues include gastrointestinal problems such as diarrhea, headaches, constipation, vomiting and nausea, loss of appetite, muscle pain and tingling in arms and legs, severe sweating in the face and feet, muscle weakness, urinary frequency and increased urination. If you have ongoing feelings of depression and anxiety, or if you are constantly fatigued, you probably have ME. Other physical symptoms include joint pain, swelling and stiffness, difficulty getting around and cramping, problems with digestion such as constipation, heartburn and acid reflux, dizziness and lightheadedness.

The most commonly reported physical symptom is pain in the muscles and joints of the body, especially in the lower back and the abdomen. Other symptoms include severe muscle aches, numbness and tingling in the arms and legs, headaches, urinary frequency and increased urination. Some sufferers also report having mood swings, lack of concentration, difficulty sleeping and depression. Chronic fatigue is usually the main symptom, whereas other less common types of ME include migraine headaches, aching muscles and joints, unexplained fever, lack of appetite and skin rash.

Treatment for ME varies from person to person, although most doctors use anti-inflammatory drugs, since it is the underlying cause of the illness, to help patients get better quicker. In more severe cases, doctors may prescribe a course of antibiotics to fight off the illness and to treat the symptoms. If someone thinks they have chronic fatigue syndrome, it is important to visit a doctor to get diagnosed properly. Only when the illness is properly diagnosed, can treatment be found that will get better patient’s lives back on track.

As of now, there really isn’t any way to test for ME. Doctors cannot test for the illness using blood tests or through ear pinning. A health professional who suspects that a person may have ME should see a physician for a proper diagnosis. I am usually treated with a course of anti inflammatory drugs, which are usually in the form of steroids. The doctor may also prescribe some form of a cognitive enhancing medication to help patients cope with the symptoms of ME.

The experience love is the key to feeling emotionally secure and capable of loving another person fully and generously. Love can include being compassionate, kind, confident, committed, honoring, loving, confident, socially competent, self-confident, forgiving, perceptive, mutually supportive, optimistic, truthful, reliable, responsible, open, accepting, motivated, responsive, pleasant, forgiving, sympathetic, positive, relaxed, safe, secure, sympathetic, responsive, present, playful, spontaneous, relaxed, secure, touchable, mutually supportive, spontaneous, joyous, spontaneous, thoughtful, intelligent, stable, thoughtful, tender, present, giving, open, giving affection, affectionate, present with no strings attached, nurturing, non-judgmental, present without expecting repayment, self-giving, non-critical, accepting, giving without expecting anything in return, accepting and giving with no strings attached, sharing without expecting anything in return, showing love and giving love to someone else, showing love and giving affection to yourself, without expecting anything in return.

Loving is not lust; it is the desire to give that arises from a deep personal or relationship with another person. It can also be the unfulfilled yearnings for love, belongingness, security, order, stability, an absence of loneliness, an absence of dissatisfaction, an absence of conflict, the awareness of a commonality shared values, or a sense of oneness shared feelings. A lover or spouse, whatever your sexual orientation is, you can be in love or in lust. In either situation, feelings of love, the very basis for any relationship, exist.

Some couples go through the motions of falling in love more quickly than others do. When two people in loving relationships decide to make their relationship “official,” the lust for each other usually takes control of their relationships. They usually hope that the sexual attraction that was once there will be replaced by the deeper emotional attachment, which is a kind of magnetic force, attracting the other person’s presence. Relationships that experience this kind of dynamic are not sustainable, since the desires for each partner to be loved and to be desired are usually not fulfilled.

For most people who have not found a way of expressing their feelings, their brains send a message to the body: “I need you. I need your love.” But in this competitive society where there is so much competition, there are other impulses in the brain that can override the intuitive “feel like” signals sent by the brain. Instead of sending a “feel like” message, however, the message may be “I want you” or “I need you.”

If one or both partners in a loving relationship are not meeting each other’s needs, the absence of desire may lead to feelings of emptiness that can be the beginning of affairs. It is possible, of course, that feelings of familiarity with the other person lead to falling in love or a deeper commitment, but unless those feelings of intimacy are sustained by fulfilling real relationships, the feelings will fizzle out and the affair will continue. The same dynamic could occur if the couple does not realize the depth of their connection until it is too late. So, one of the most important lessons to learn about loving relationships is that love does not just “fall out of the sky,” but needs to be cultivated, nurtured, given away and then kept alive throughout the years of a relationship.
